Effect of transverse uniform electric field on spinless quantum particle confined on the surface of an elliptic cylinder
Abstract
The bound states of a spinless quantum particle confined on the surface of an elliptic cylinder when a transverse uniform electric field is applied is studied. It was found that as the field strength increases the ground state becomes more bound relative to the rest of the energy states. The effect of the field also becomes negligible as the elliptic cylinder becomes flatter about the axis parallel to the field.
