Abstract

We present an improvement to the piecewise implementation of the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm. The improvement involves defining a propagation and a translation transfer function requiring only the calculation of the hologram for an on-axis target at the Fourier plane. We improve the computation time by 3.5 min. and obtain a maximum diffraction efficiency of 8 percent. This also allows control of the position of the reconstructions in real time.
