Abstract

In this study, we analyze wind properties of wind observation data from selected PAGASA weather stations. Our results show that all of the stations have an increase in wind speed from the period of the 1950s to the 1960s, especially in terms of the magnitude of the winds coming from the north. There is also a significant decrease of wind speed and frequency from the 1980s to the 1990s. Further, our study analyzes potential changes in the wind pattern (direction) in each of the stations and results show that certain stations, including Laoag, have had significant changes in wind pattern.
