Growth patterns for competition in a single species forest
Abstract
We consider a simple model for simulating the spatial evolution of a single species forest through time. The model enables the statistical investigation of the properties of simulated growth and to understand the behavior of trees, as non-moving agents, undergoing spatial competition. Simula- tions show that corresponding parameters reflect specific patterns, such as forest density and population, due to the interplay of growth and mortality.
