Harmonic superposition of polarized light: energy-momentum via geometric algebra
Abstract
We used Clifford geometric algebra Cl3,0 to compute for the energy-momentum density of an electromagnetic field that is a harmonic superposition of left- and right-circularly polarized waves generated from a fundamental frequency ω using the electromagnetic field cliffor Ê. We calculated the time-averaged energy-momentum density and obtained expressions involving only the magnitudes of the complex amplitudes of the wave functions.
