Abstract

In this paper, porous mullite ceramics were fabricated using kaolinite clay from Ilocos Norte. The effects of the initial particle size on the porosity of the resulting ceramics were studied. Kaolinite clay was separated into different particle sizes through sedimentation were made into disc-shaped green bodies by using slip casting techniques. The discs were sintered at a temperature of 1100°C. Results smaller initial particle sizes leads to a decrease in porosity of the ceramic.
