Abstract

Copper thin films were deposited on glass slides using oblique angle deposition. The samples were prepared at varying deposition angles and their transmission and absorbance spectra were obtained. The transmission of the samples were observed to have increased, while the absorbance decreased as the deposition angle increased. A peak in the absorbance spectra at around 620 nm was also observed, being more prominent in the films with larger deposition angles. This peak is attributed to either interband absorption of copper or the absorption due to surface plasmon resonance on the surface of the copper nanorods.
