Abstract

We fabricated superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-δ (Y-123) films deposited via the sedimentation process and subjected to liquid phase annealing and heat treating in oxygen rich atmosphere. In the sedimentation process, the Y-123 particles are mixed with acetone to produce a suspension and are then allowed to settle down onto a substrate. As-deposited films are heat treated around the peritectic temperature of Y-123 (1010°C). XRD measurements indicate that the films 1,2, and 4 produced are polycrystalline with no impurity phases while that of film 3 contained Y2Cu2O5 impurity phase. Four-point probe measurement gave a Tconset~87K and Tc0~46K. These results suggest that the deposition technique can be used to produce Y-123 films
