Abstract

We propose a structure of dysprosium titanate (DTO) when doped with yttrium (Y) at different concentrations. X-ray diffraction (XRD) data of DTO with different concentrations of Y were compiled and analyzed using Rietveld refinement. We found slight changes in the lattice parameter a and movements in the oxygen with Wyckoff position 48f.  The electron density map (EDM) suggested changes in the electron density around the dysprosium atom. This could result in changes in the crystal field dynamics in the pyrochlore system that potentially affect the spin directions in a spin ice system. Further analysis are suggested to see high resolution doping mechanism of Y and to navigate the magnetic moments in the system.
