Enhanced multiple plane phase retrieval using phase perturbation
Abstract
Multiple plane phase retrieval techniques, such as single beam multiple intensity reconstructions with unordered wave propagations (U-SBMIR), can suffer from stagnation where the iterative algorithm arrives at an incorrect complex field solution. In this study, we propose to remove errors in stagnated field reconstruction by introducing a small change or perturbation to the real part of the field at one point in the algorithm. Results using simulated intensity measurements show that this technique accelerates the reconstruction and is effective in eliminating phase errors. The root mean squared error (RMSE) between the phase reconstructions from successive iterations show that the proposed algorithm converges faster.
