Single-device fringe projection profilometry using a smartphone
Abstract
This study utilized the split-screen mode of an Android smartphone, using the front camera and gallery containing the fringe patterns as the projector to perform single-device fringe projection profilometry. A convex lens with 70 mm focal length was placed in front of the fringe pattern, projecting the fringes to the reference plane and a bottle cap as the object. Results show that the proposed setup was able to reconstruct the best image and retrieve the true height of the object at f = 0.026 mm−1, having the lowest RMSE value, 1.6751 mm, among other frequencies. Our research shows promising potential in performing single-device profilometry using hand-held devices such as smartphones.
