Search for a maverick top particle in monotop events with high missing transverse momentum from proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV
Abstract
A phenomenological study of a combination of two Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) extensions is performed, featuring a top partner T quark that interacts with the dark sector. The single production of the T quark is generated from proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV, where the T quark decays into a top quark and a dark photon that decays into a pair of neutrinos. This signature, known as monotop events, features a boosted top quark and a high missing transverse momentum. A search strategy that targets this signature is implemented to discriminate the signal from background events. Using the unique topology of the signal, the analysis achieved a significant background reduction, with higher signal efficiency for higher masses of the T quark.
