Abstract

The clock effect denotes the disparity in time measurements observed between two clocks that meet after traversing paths with opposing azimuthal angular momentum. In this paper we calculate this time difference for two clocks going on counter-rotating circular orbits around a class of spherically symmetric spacetimes. We employ the Mathisson-Papapetrou-Dixon equations for deriving the explicit equations of motion.
