Abstract

We introduce a new technique, folded transit method, which can isolate the signal produced by the planet itself for it to be better detected and characterized. From the folded transit curve, we are able to obtain the velocity and radius of the planet. As compared to the transit method, the folded transit method produces a higher signal-to-noise ratio since it increases the amplitude of the planetary signal by 100% and reduces the random noises or fluctuations coming from the star. This method also shows flexibility in planetary orbits since it is independent of orbital inclination.
