Scattering of nonlinear bosonic fields: A case study in superradiance
Abstract
We study the scattering of a nonlinear bosonic field on an electrostatic potential in a flat spacetime background. We show by explicit example that nonlinear effects could potentially narrow down the space of superradiant modes, if not to shrink it to zero whenever the modes encounter a region of quantum instability.
