Enhanced sinterability of CeO2 on Haynes 230
Abstract
In CeO2 film fabrication, it is important to understand the sintering of CeO2 on the substrate. We report here that the sinterability of CeO2 is enhanced on Haynes 230 because heat treatment temperatures for densification and rapid grain growth were lower than those of pelletized pure CeO2. Furthermore, a grain growth activation energy of 622 kJ/mol} was calculated and is close to published values of doped CeO2 with enhanced sinterability. Although the sinterability of CeO2 is already enhanced, sintering aids are still needed to fully densify CeO2 on Haynes 230.
