Intrinsic magneto-oscillations leading to an exact form of the chemical potential of a two-dimensional electron gas

Abstract

An ideal two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) under a perpendicular magnetic field is considered. Using Fourier series expansion, a closed form of the chemical potential is obtained. The calculated chemical potential reveals an intrinsic behavior of a 2DEG. An analytic expression for the magnetization is also derived.
