Abstract

Colloidal processing of superconducting Bi-2212 films helps in fabricating high-quality films by controlling suspension rheology. A well-dispersed suspension facilitates non-flocculated deposits on the film. The viscosity of the suspension is affected by powder loading and choice of dispersant among others. To achieve this, Potassium chloride (KCl) was used as dispersant in the suspension and flux during melt processing treatment. The powder loading to be used for a 10mL acetone:0.1mL 0.02wt%KCl suspension was also determined. Superconducting Bi-2212 films was successfully fabricated with a highest Tc,onset =92 K and smallest transition width (∆Tc)=9 K via sedimentation deposition.
