Investigation of vibration pattern formation using numerical simulations and experimental Chladni method
Abstract
A numerical model for pattern formation produced by a 2-D standing wave on a square plate is presented, and experimental 2-D patterns on a square vibrating plate using a technique based on Chladni method is demonstrated. Some simulated results using equations with arbitrarily chosen boundary conditions and some experimental results presented close similarities. The results obtained from the model and technique provide visualizations and insights on the dynamics of vibrating surfaces.
