Comparative network metrics for language and music
Abstract
We study and compare music and language co-occurrence networks using a set of complex network metrics. Results indicate that music networks (bird call and folk song networks) contain more repetitive cliques compared to language networks (characters, prose, and poetry). Language networks (prose and poetry) were found to have a lower ASPL, indicating that their nodes are generally more well-connected by edges.
