Abstract

We investigate the effect of the photonic time stretch (PTS) system to the total power of a signal stretched. We numerically simulated a PTS system test bed for stretching a portion of a square pulse in different stretch factors. We have observed that the power difference between the stretched signal and the unstretched signal does not exceed 1.63 dB. For communications, a dispersion penalty of 1.63 dB may possibly be considered negligible in most applications.
