Abstract

We have studied influence of the spectral filtering for the efficiency of the heterodyne electro-optic (EO) sampling detection of THz pulsed radiation. Compared to the normal heterodyne EO sampling without spectral filtering, the EO sampling signal ΔI/I has been enhanced by 20% when a short-pass edge filter is inserted in the probe beam pass. The enhancement is explained by the suppression of the spectral component corresponding to the difference frequency generation and the increased contrast of the heterodyne EO sampling signal corresponding to the sum frequency generation.
