Abstract

Two-dimensional free-standing ZnO microcrystalline structures were synthesized via simple carbothermal reduction route at 950°C with Au clusters as seed. The deposition of these structures highly depended on the ZnO and C source ratio. The longest rods and ribbons were observed in the sample with 1:5 ZnO:C weight ratio. Uniform rods grew on larger irregular hexagonal structures which is large enough that extends as long as 14 mm.
