Analysis of particulate matter (PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀) measurements from the Manila Observatory and aerosol optical depth derived from the Multiangle Imaging Spectroradiometer (MISR)
Abstract
This paper seeks to correlate MISR aerosol optical depth retrievals and ground measured particulate matter (PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀) concentrations in Manila Observatory for the years 2004 and 2005. Both PM₂.₅ (R² =0.7464) and PM10 (R² =0.6784) showed a good correlation between the two parameters. Using binning analysis, the correlative strength of the two variables was attested and emphasized with PM₂.₅ having an R² of 0.9779 and PM₁₀ with an R² of 0.9458.
