Optical emission spectroscopy studies on the efficacy of nitrogen addition to boric acid plasma as flame retardant on wood
Abstract
Optical emission spectroscopy was used to analyze low pressure glow discharge of H₃BO₃ and N₂ plasmas for flame retardant treatment of wood. Changes in the emission intensities of the certain selected species were correlated with fire retardation of wood. Higher intensity of oxides was observed in the plasma spectra when nitrogen was added to boric acid.
