Synthesis and characterization of nanofibrous ZnO via electrospinning technique

Abstract

In this study, a zinc acetate and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution was electrospun and calcined at 500°C to produce ZnO nanofibers. The effects of varying electric potential voltage applied during electrospinning on the fiber diameter of the samples were observed with the help of a scanning electron microscope. The average fiber diameter produced ranged from 177-403nm. XRD patterns confirmed the crystal structure of the nanofibers to be ZnO.
