Abstract

The discolorations on okra leaves were quantified using digital image processing techniques. Scanned images of okra leaves were analyzed by obtaining a processed black and white images and processed HSV (hue, saturation value) images. These images were combined through image arithmetic to produce a final HSV image wherein the percentage of the discoloration and green parts of the leaves were measured. The resulting measurements conform well to the visually observable characteristics of the okra leaves implying that the method used could be a good way of estimating discolorations of okra leaves which could be due to diseases and environmental factors.
