Volume estimation from partial view through gray code illumination technique

Abstract

We propose a method of obtaining the volume of an object whose 3D surface is reconstructed by gray code light projection. We found that a linear relationship exists between the actual volume and the estimated volume measurement computed through the proposed technique. An average of 12% error was found after comparing the measured actual and the predicted volume.
