Abstract

A Cr/Cu/Cr thin film coating with low transmission in the infrared region was designed and fabricated. Four samples with Cr/Cu/Cr thicknesses of 7.2nm/199nm/8nm, 6.1nm/144.7nm/5.6nm, 6.8nm/98nm/7.1nm and 6.8nm/50.5nm/6.3nm were prepared. Results of the study show that in the spectral region of 2μm-20μm the samples had minimal transmission, their average transmission being less than 1%. The study also shows that in the spectral region of 400nm-800nm, the samples had transmission peaks at 575 nm-580nm, with the transmission of the samples ranging from 2%-15%.
