Directing light into a multi-storey farm: A concept paper

Abstract

We present three designs of a multi-storey farm ("pyramid," "amphitheate," and "box") and propose mechanisms to redirect light into the interior of the building using optical elements such as mirrors. These mechanisms will increase the area for planting crops by increasing the area illuminated by sunlight inside the farm, without having to generate lighting using other energy sources.
