Abstract

We investigate the propagation of light passing through a novel lens. Our lens is composed of a spherical lens with a protruding conical section. We determine intensity profiles of top hat light beams passing through this lens by the Split Step algorithms. We compare these with beams from a spherical lens and a conical lens. Our lens may find uses in imaging and microscopy.
