Laser cooling of indium atoms
Abstract
The ability to control the motion of technologically-relevant atoms, such as indium, can be applied to direct atom deposition. Optical fields were used to control the motion of indium atoms, using laser cooling methods. The rich multi-level structure and open hyperfine transitions of indium makes it a challenge to perform laser cooling experiments. This talk discusses the experimental schemes and results of indium laser cooling.
