Brushstroke enhancement by Fourier filtering
Abstract
Brushstrokes present in paintings are separated from canvas weave structures by filtering the Fourier transform of the photometric stereo reconstructed image of the painting sample. This was done to suppress spatial frequencies corresponding to canvas weave. The result after filtering is an image with enhanced brushstrokes and suppressed weave structures.
