Abstract

This is a short experimental study on a novel antenna utilizing two coplanar quad loops. It has been tested for use as a receiving antenna of VHF/UHF commercial television broadcast. The resulting antenna was designed, constructed and tested at Cebu City. A series of experiments was conducted to determine the dimensions and spacing of elements for best performance. The result shows that the novel antenna could be used to receive almost all local commercial VHF/UHF television channels in Cebu City with good signal quality. A do-it-yourself (DIY) manual is the other important output of this study. Nevertheless, it is recommended that testing should also be done at remote areas and at locations where signals are naturally weak.
