Abstract

Analytic approach based on branching process theory is presented that captures the growth dynamics of multilevel marketing companies (MLM). The method is validated using real-world data, and is shown to be consistent with the results of agent-based simulations. Our approach allows straightforward analysis of profitability, equitability and robustness of arbitrary compensation plans such as the binary and unilevel MLMs.
