Abstract

PbO was added to ZnO ceramics in varying concentrations of 1 mol%, 5 mol% and 10 mol%. Results show that the addition of PbO resulted to an increased grain size of the samples. The addition of 5 mol% PbO to the ceramic created the necessary grain boundaries for ZnO to become a varistor. The dopant also increased the conductivity of ZnO.
