Abstract

We evaluated the potential of a locally assembled Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) for vibration measurements. Tuning forks (vibrating) are used as test samples and placed at the measurement volume of the LDV setup. The frequencies of the signal measured by the LDV system are in good agreement with the frequencies specified in the tuning forks. The percentage error in the measurements is less than 3%. This clearly shows the potential of the setup in performing such measurements.
