Abstract

We presented as an example a quantization problem in finite space to illustrate that a dynamical observable must be required to have its eigenfunctions satisfy boundary conditions in order to conserve probability. In particular, we showed that the quantum time of arrival operator developed using a modified definition of the momentum operator exhibits the flaw of non-conservation of probability.
