Abstract

We propose a simple Monte Carlo model for the formation of raindrops. The drop size distribution obtained from simulations follow a truncated power law with parameters μ and Λ. We show that the observed μ-Λ relationship of raindrop size distributions emerges from the physical processes involved in precipitation.
