Abstract

A June climatological distribution of rainfall for Luzon has been constructed. The method of construction consists of combining two types of rainfall values: theoretical values from simulations with an atmospheric model and observed values at rain gauge stations. The method has been applied previously by using simulations with a highly simplified model, the so-called mixed layer model. The present paper describes an attempt to increase the accuracy of the climatology by using the highly sophisticated MM5 atmospheric model developed by the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado.
