Abstract

Samarium iron garnets, Sm3Fe5−xAlxO12 were prepared by oxide sintering method for various values of x. The formation of the garnet phase for all the samples synthesized was confirmed by x-ray diffraction technique. The site preference of the Al+3 dopant was studied by Mössbauer effect spectrometry and the values of the hyperfine fields in the octahedral and tetrahedral sites were measured.
