Abstract

The Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oδ superconductor has a crystal growth habit of plate-like crystallites that were randomly oriented. Investigation through Scanning Electron Microscopy showed microstructural features that include stacking layer of thin-plate crystallites, granular defect structures such as microcracks, entrapped pores, grain surface voids, faceted texture, fractured grain and segregation of impurities.
