Chromosome pair finding using intensity profiles of M-FISH images

Abstract

We present a technique in automatically finding the chromosome pairs in M-FISH images. The intensity of pixels for each dye was obtained. These intensity profiles were averaged for each chromosome and used as signature for finding chromosome pairs. Each chromosome pair was then tagged with a pseudo-color. Comparing the pseudocolored image to an actual karyotype yields 25±13% error.
