Vlasov-Poisson perturbation approach to tidal interactions of stellar systems

Abstract

The evolution of interacting stellar systems is predicted analytically by solving for the distribution function at any given time using a perturbation approach to the Vlasov-Poisson equation. The zeroth and first order perturbations are computed thus providing an approximation to the behavior of the system.
