Understanding and demonstrating plastic deformation processes using Cu wires and springs
Abstract
Armed with observational skills and some elementary physics concepts, plastic deformation processes in springs can be understood via a series of simple demonstrations. Eleven demonstrations involving simple wire deformations to more complicated spring deformations are presented. This is helpful in spring design and fabrication and in Hooke's law experiments making use of Cu springs.
