Dynamics of Ku-band satellite signal attenuation due to rainfall at varying time scales
Abstract
Frequency analysis of fluctuations in rainfall and corresponding satellite signal loss is performed. Results for small and large time scales are presented. Extended periods of rainfall (~5 minutes) contribute significantly to changes in signal attenuation. Large rainfall gradients at short time intervals (~2 mins) do not greatly affect signal transmission.
