Abstract

Polycrystalline superconducting thin films of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ have been successfully grown on MgO [100] and polycrystalline Al2O3 substrates via liquid phase epitaxy from a Bi-2201 melt with excess Ca and Cu ions. The optimum annealing temperature in air of the grown films was found to be between 820−830°C. The best film obtained was grown on Al2O3 with a superconducting transition temperature, Tc ≈ 75K.
