Abstract

The paper discusses the possibility of turbulence in non-flowing gases, a phenomenon we call Standing Turbulence (STT). We calculate the critical temperature at which a non-flowing asymmetrical diatomic gas will reach STT using the Muriel-Dresden (MD) microscopic theory of turbulence. The paper also predicts the specific absorption spectral line of a STT asymmetrical diatomic gas that will vanish at a particular critical temperature Tc.
