Abstract

In this paper, we were able to determine the δ values of annealed YBa2Cu3O7−δ samples using iodometric titration. The method involves the addition of SCN as indicator for the true endpoint after the starch endpoint. For the samples annealed (6 hrs, 950°C) with air and those annealed (6 hrs, 950°C) under constant oxygen flow, we obtained the average δ values of 0.287 and 0.251, respectively. X-ray powder diffraction tests confirm that the samples are essentially those of orthorhombic or superconducting YBa2Cu3O7−δ.
