Abstract

We report the development and design of a liquid phase epitaxy system for growth of thin bismuth-cuprate superconductor films. The system uses a vertically mounted furnace with vertical substrate introduction and rotation. The system was started last December 1993, commissioned last June 1994, went into service last July 1994. In this report we discuss the operation of the system including some limitations and problems encountered.
